Greater Portland USBC Charity

2023-2024 Charity Report

Once again, our association members have humbled us with their kind donations.  We raised $16,000 for Bowlers to Veterans Link (BVL).  Our 9 pin No Tap tournament raised $4000.00 and the Envelop drive raised $5,862, that money came directly from the bowlers.  That is very impressive.
We need to send a big thank you to our sponsors, their Lane Sponsorships and raffle item donations were above and beyond expectations.
Next season we will be adding a second charity tournament.  The Board of Directors has voted to raise money for the Susan G Komen Foundation.  We will be raising money for BVL from September through December, and Susan G Komen Foundation January through April.  More information will be available in the coming months.

2022-2023 Charity Report

This was another outstanding year for the Charity Committee.  We raised over $16,000 for our Bowlers to Veterans Link Charity.
During the week of Veterans Day, we ask our bowlers for donations. We hold a charity tournament called the “BVL 9 Pin No Tap Charity Tournament” and we send donation envelopes to all leagues to be passed around during the week.
Our 5th annual BVL Tournament was held at King Pins Portland on November 12, 2022. We had 137 Bowlers participate in this year’s tournament. We had 13 Lane Sponsors who donated $3,025.00 and raised $2,675 from our raffle drawings. This was by far our best year and have already begun planning for next years tournament which will be held at KingPins Portland on November 11th, 2023.
Our leagues stepped up once again. Every league was given donation envelopes to pass around during the week of Veterans Day. We collected $5,375.02 from our leagues. Their generosity never fails to humble us.  Thank you to all our league secretaries and league bowlers for their donations.

2020-2021 Charity Report

2020-2021 has been a horrible year.  Both of our main charity drives were canceled due to the Covid-19 shutdown. That being said we came together and raised money for our local centers. Together the bowlers helped raise over $7,269.33 dollars through the GoFundme page. National USBC sent us a check for $5,648 and the GPUSBC association donated $7,682.67 from the General account . These 3 donation avenues allowed our organization to award each of our centers a check in the amount of $2,000.00. We hope these donations helped our centers to stay the course and open their doors when we were finally able to open up bowling again.  We want to thank everyone who contributed their time and effort to make this happen.

2019-2020 Charity Report

During the week of Veterans Day, we ask our bowlers for donations. We hold a charity tournament called the “BVL 9 Pin No Tap Charity Tournament” and we send donation envelops to all leagues to be passed around during the week.  The tournament was held at King Pins Portland on November 3, 2020, it was a huge success. Between the BVL Tournament and the Envelope donation drive we collected over $12,000.00 dollars for our local veterans. This was our best donation year to date!  We are humbled by the outpouring of generosity from our members and community.

The Greater Portland USBC would like to express our deepest appreciation and gratitude to all our veterans and service members and their families for all their sacrifices.
